Nikka From The Barrel is a Blended whisky, which was launched in 1985. The secret of its wonderful flavor is based on unique combination of complex mixing and higher alcohol content – 51,4 %.
The cult square bottle reflects the concept of whisky “a small block of whisky” and represents its intensive and rich flavor. Even after its launch the bottle is still timeless and respected for its maximum simplicity.
The comprehensiveness is made by blending of more than 100 various sorts of Malt and Grain whiskies. After blending the whisky is filled into used barrels and aging for next months. This process of “connecting” harmonizes all ingredients and components and gives it its fine flavor.
In 1918 a young man Masataka Taketsuru, originally from Japan, went to Scotland with an ambition of producing true whisky. In Scotland he intended to discover the production secret of whisky. So Masataka became not only the first Japanese, who mastered the production of whisky, but the founder of the company called Nikka Whisky too.
In 1934, after his return to Japan and other activities, Masataka Taketsuru ordered to build his first distillery in Yoichi on Hokkaido. The company firstly started to produce products made of apples under the title “Dai Nippon Kaju”, meanwhile it was preparing for the production of whisky. After the launch of distillation in 1936 the first whisky of company Nikka was launched in 1940. The name of this whisky was “NIKKA WHISKEY”, “Nippon Kaju” in short, which later became the name of the company itself.
